One of the ways we gauge spiritual growth at Greater Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church is through four major areas. We believe that every Christ-follower should continue to grow in their faith. As a guideline, we believe that every Christ-follower should:
CULTIVATE a personal relationship with Jesus.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” – Jesus in John 15:5
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. – Philippians 3:10-11
CONNECT in relationships where truth meets life.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Christ. – Ephesians 4:15
They devoted themselves to… the fellowship… – Acts 2:42
CONTRIBUTE by serving.
“Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” – Matthew 20:28
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.” – Mark 8:34-35
CARE about people far from God.
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” – Luke 19:10
… “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
– Mark 2:16-17
